About Our PTO
The Glenn York PTO organization is a nonprofit organization that was formed to help create, compliment and support the student body, teaching staff, administration and learning environment at Glenn York Elementary School in Alvin Independent School District. This is done by supporting teachers, staff and parents in their efforts to to develop well-rounded children.

Our mission is to positively influence the improvement and growth of our community (City of Pearland, Alvin ISD and Brazoria County) through supporting the education of young people, equipping educators, cooperating with administration, sharing volunteer opportunities with parents, and opening the door for outreach with community stakeholders. We believe that our parent teacher organization can accomplish our mission by prioritizing our efforts in parental engagement and outreach; increasing communication and coordination between parents, school staff and administration; encouraging, empowering and developing volunteer leadership.

Hi! My name is Melissa Dominguez and I’ve been a York mom since 2018. My oldest is a 7th grader at McNair and my little one is in second grade. I’m a native Houstonian, but have called Shadow Creek home almost a decade. I have taught junior high, preschool, and am currently a teacher at McNair.
When I’m not teaching or chauffeuring my daughters, I love to drink my morning coffee, run, walk, cook, read, watch funny movies, and try new restaurants with my husband of almost 15 years.
I’m super excited to finally be able to participate in the amazing work that the PTO does.

I am the mom of 2nd grade and 4th grade Rangers. Our family moved to Texas from Oregon in 2020. I have a bachelors degree in elementary education from the University of Oregon, and in my previous professional life I served in executive administrative positions in banking and legal fields. I am also a den leader for our local Cub Scout pack. I am very excited to contribute to our amazing staff and students at York this year!

I’m excited to serve our school community this year as a first-time PTO Member Representative! I’ve been a York parent for three years, with six more to go. Our daughter Kylie is in 3rd grade and our son Henry just started Kindergarten.
Our family has called Pearland home for the past nine years. While my husband and I are originally from the Midwest, our kids are proud native Texans. We also have two pups—Violet and Lulu—who enjoy joining us for school drop-off and pick-up. If you see them around, they’d love a friendly hello!
Professionally, I’ve dedicated my career to addressing food insecurity and domestic violence. I currently serve as Vice-Chair of the City of Houston’s Food Insecurity Board. In my spare time, I love reading, practicing Pilates and yoga, biking, hiking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Our experience at Glenn York has been incredibly positive, and we’re so grateful for the wonderful families we’ve met along the way. I’m looking forward to connecting with even more of you this year and supporting our students and teachers through the PTO!
